i think that youth image is not as bad as it seems. I think that the media portrays youths to be bad and not good. There is no good press about youths. This causes a stereotypical view of youths. i think that this has to change soon!!!

No the media portrays a huge amount of negative image of young people not just in Oldham but across the country and from that it has made other people think that all young people are bad where in actual reality they are not just a minority of the huge amount of youth in the borough and across the country and there is lots of positive contributions from the young people but yet it is never seen because of the media, it is always the media to blame how the image of young people is portrayed. by Lee Thompson – Oldham Youth Council

Anorexia is a big issue in the Uk. young adults look into magazines and see kate moss and many other models looking slim and they find that others find that attractive.

The media portrays how young people should view their own bodies e.g. through a models appearances etc. but then there may be other reasons as well e.g. how they are brought up by there parents and not getting enough support etc. they also nay be portrayed by peer pressure for example if someone called another young person called someone else a “fatty” then a certain persons self-esteem plummets to the floor and they make it their primary task to lose as much weight as quickly as possible.
